Spending majority of my life in pools as a varsity water polo captain and swimmer at South Pasadena high school, as well as being a swim instructor, I found it important to ensure proper water conditions. Bleach concentration plays a crucial rule in water safety and through this organization I hope to create safe swimming pool environments for people to enjoy.

As a varsity swimmer at O.D. Tompkins High School, my time in the pool sparked an unexpected fascination with chemistry on how chlorine levels are measured. Driven by curiosity, I began exploring alternative testing methods and developed a more accurate, efficient, and cost-effective way to measure bleach concentrations. My goal is to make community swimming pools safer and more accessible for everyone.

As a dedicated member of a swim team for many years, I spent countless hours training in chlorinated pools. While swimming was a passion of mine, I also experienced frequent skin irritation from prolonged exposure to pool water. This personal experience sparked my curiosity about pool chemistry and the importance of maintaining safe chlorine levels. Through this project, I hope to educate my community about why chlorine levels matter, how they affect both health and safety, and how accessible knowledge about proper pool maintenance can help create a safer swimming environment for everyone.

I first discovered my love for chemistry while teaching and tutoring young students. Remembering how unkempt pool water used to cause worry during summer swims, I was driven by my fervor for accessibility and desire to combine my technical expertise. Establishing Safewater is my way to streamline chlorine testing techniques and ensuring that safe, clean water is available to every family and community.
